Planning is well underway for the Holme Valley’s second Festival of Faith, which this year will run from July 1-7th with scores of events planned, all underpinned by prayer.
This year the team is hosting the singer/songwriter Gareth Davies-Jones for an opening concert on Sat 1st and song writing/choir workshops on the Friday evening/Saturday morning, which means he is available to perform anywhere in the region on the Sunday.
If anyone wants to host a concert on Sunday 2 July, get in touch with him at: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone: 07821395452.
This is the second Festival of Faith for the Upper Holme Valley team – the first in 2015 saw 23 distinct events from children’s entertainer, a clean comedy night, God in the Great Outdoors, and a heavenly bake-off - pictured right is Sing Choirs of Angels Sing in Choclatation!
There was lots of opportunity for conversation, alongside children's crafts, a Mr and Mrs Quiz, Questions for God and a specially brewed festival beer.
The Festival is organised by the seven Anglican churches that make up the Upper Holme Valley Team. The team was inspired by the wealth of festivals already rooted in that part of West Yorkshire and borrowed from popular culture to design something to promote both the Christian faith and the richness of their local community through arts, comedy, sport and worship.
And this year promises to be bigger and better with Gareth Davies-Jones headlining on the opening night with a concert in Holmbridge Hall. Bishop John Pritchard is also joining the Festival for two big events which will engage with parts of the wider community.
There will be a Hub based at Holmfirth Parish Church, lots of food and hospitality, and once again, the team is happy to have students from the College of the Resurrection and from St. Hild College, working and praying with them.
The Festival of Faith 2017 runs 1st to 7th July across the Holme Valley. Keep an eye on the website http://www.holmevalleyfestivaloffaith.org.
